How to Enter Energy Cost Data
To enable these new analytics, cost data must be entered alongside energy consumption. You can do this either directly in the platform or via the Scaler Spreadsheet.
In the Platform
- Go to Data Collection Portal > Asset > Overview
- Edit the relevant asset and navigate to Meters & Consumption
- Open the relevant energy meter and go to the Meter consumption tab
- Enter values in the
Costcolumn, using your portfolio’sDefault currency

Once saved, the cost data will automatically feed into both the Asset Overview table and the Energy Spend Intensity visualizations in the Analytics Portal.
In the Scaler Spreadsheet
- Go to Data Collection Portal > Asset > Overview
- Select the asset(s) you want to add cost data for

- Download the spreadsheet and include the “Energy” sheets under Meters & Consumption

- In the Energy Consumption sheet, enter cost values in the
COSTcolumn for each relevant line of energy consumption

Once uploaded, this data will sync to the platform and appear in the same locations as above.
Where to View This Data
1. Analytics Portal > Asset Overview
In the Analytics Portal, under the Asset Overview tab, you’ll now see a new column titled Energy Spend.
- This shows the aggregate energy costs for each asset for the selected reporting year.
- The value reflects all cost data associated with energy consumption for the asset during that time period.
- Use this view to quickly identify high-spend assets or to assess overall energy-related expenses per asset.

2. Analytics Portal > Portfolio > Energy Tab
In the Energy Intensity graph at the Portfolio level, a new toggle lets you switch between:
- Energy Use Intensity (default)
- Energy Spend Intensity
When Energy Spend Intensity is selected, the graph updates to show cost per square meter or foot (e.g., USD/ft²), based on:
- The energy cost (entered manually)
- The floor area of the asset(s)
- Your default portfolio currency and user profile unit settings for area
