In this short video, you’ll become familiar with using the Governance Tool. Users with view and edit access for a given portfolio can use the tool. If you think you should have access, but don’t see the “Analytics/Collection” toggle in your Scaler environment, please contact your organization’s Scaler admin to adjust your user access rights.

Key takeaways
- The Governance Tool enables data collection for qualitative metrics at the portfolio-fund level. As with quantitative data at asset-level, collected data is automatically mapped across frameworks like GRESB with CSRD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR and other relevant frameworks forthcoming.
- This allows you to:
- prepare for reporting year-round,
- eliminates overlapping and duplicative reporting effort across frameworks,
- helps to avoid misalignment, and
- in the case of GRESB, automates reporting to the Management Component via API integration.
- Associate evidence with an indicator
- At the top of the fold-out, click on “add-evidence”. You can either add files directly (which will then also be added to your document library), choose a file that is already in your Document library, or add a URL link where the evidence can be found.
- Once you have associated evidence with an indicator, you can link it to each relevant answer option and explain where the answer option is referenced.
- In the indicator box, you will find a counter for the answer-options you have selected out of the total possible available, as well as a counter for the associated evidence. Use these counters to ensure that you have provided evidence for each answer option you select.
- Saving answers
- Scaler auto-saves your progress as you fill in indicators. However, you have to press save at the indicator and/or Aspect level to re-calculate your Completion rate.
- All answers must be “manually saved” for the platform to consider an indicator as answered, and eventually to push data to GRESB for reporting.
- Completion rate
- Scaler calculates your Completion rate based on whether relevant indicators are filled in with ‘yes / no / or not applicable’— NOT whether you have selected any corresponding answer-options.
- GRESB Score indication
- In the overview, you find an indication of the points you can potentially earn across each Aspect in the Management Component— not including the impact of peer benchmarking— which account for 30 out of 100 points of your total GRESB Score.
- Note that the Score indication is based on the presumption that the evidence you provide for an indicator contains references that support your answers and will thereby be validated affirmatively by GRESB.
